Kaizen Module
The before measure, the after measure, the waste type, and the PDCA stage stay on one record.
Measure Fields
The kaizen form keeps the before measure, the after measure, the waste type, and the PDCA stage apart. The reviewer reads the two measures side by side.
The current time, scrap, step count, or distance is written with its unit.
The value taken after implementation, or the target, is written the same way.
Improvement Cycle
Kaizen repeats in small steps. The stage field shows which cycle the record is in; the waste type shows what is being reduced.
The problem and the target measure are written.
The trial runs on the floor.
The following measure is taken.
The result becomes the standard.
PDCA Stage is a free text field. Write the stage name your organization uses.
Record Path
A kaizen record passes the same review order as a suggestion. Each stop reads the before and after measure.
Comparison
| Topic | Old Habit | This Module |
|---|---|---|
| Previous measure | Stays on a whiteboard or in an Excel file. | Sits in the Before Metric field of the record. |
| Result | Is said aloud in a meeting. | Is written to the After Metric field and stays on the record. |
| Amount | Nobody knows who calculated it. | The amount shows in the flow panel; the person who acted on the step shows in History. |
| Repeat | The same improvement is reinvented on another line. | The list filters by place and date. A similar record is found. |
| Waste type | The kind of loss hides in the title. | Waste Type is its own field. The list filters by that type. |
| PDCA | The stage is written on the edge of the board. | The PDCA stage is a field on the record. |
| Number | The file name changes from person to person. | The record is numbered with KZN. |
| Standard | The result stays in a line notebook. | The implementation note is written at close. The status becomes Implemented. |
| Points | Points sit in a separate spreadsheet. | If a rule exists, points go to the author on send and on approval. |
